This Venus flytrap is a rosette-shaped carnivorous plant. The rosette is formed by leaf stalks, at the ends of which are traps formed by the terminal portions of the plant’s leaves. Hinged leaf lobes resembling the claws of a bear, snap shut when triggered by prey touching the tiny hairs on the inner leaf surfaces. Prey are attracted by the sweet-smelling fragrance that Dionaea muscipula ‘Space’ emits into the atmosphere.
