Sarracenia x Juthatip Soper (XL) is a hybride species of the North-American carnivorous pitcher plants of the Sarracenia genus. The pitchers have got a beautiful red whitish colour pattern and they have got ruffled hoods, that they got from Sarracenia Leucophylla. Sarracenia x Juthatip Soper (XL) even won the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Award of Merit in 1998, because of it’s appearance. Insects are being caught in the pitchers because they are attracted by the sugar producing glands within the pitchers, after which the hoods ensure that they can’t escape anymore. Araflora thinks it is a great advantage of the Sarracenia species that they are hardy plants to a more or lesser extent.
