The fern leaf is pinnate and broadly lanceolate, a shiny light gree on top and mat green-grey on the bottom. The Cyathea australis can be found in moist shadowy rain forests in the east of Australia, Tasmania and Norfolk island, along the coasts as well as up to 1200 meters above sea level. In nature they can grow up to 10 meters high. Cyathea comes from Greek ‘Kyatheion’ means ‘Small cup’ and refers to the ‘Cups’ in which the spores can be found. In Latin ‘Australis’ means ‘Southerly’.
