Philodendron Red Congo or also known as Philodendron Rojo Congo, is native to the tropical regions of South America. It produces large leaves for a Philodendron plant. The leaves emerge first with a bright red colour which gradually changes into a beautiful burgundy shade when the leaves mature. In the end all leaves will become dark green of colour. Unlike most Philodendrons, Philodendron Red Congo is not a climber nor producing viny structures, but it still is a fast growing plant. The plant also forms, with the right conditions, interesting flowers that come in different colours (red, white and green) producing a strong odour. Araflora does advise to place it a safe spot away from little children and pets, while Philodendron Red Congo its leaves are toxic when consumed.
