The melanochrysum is part of the Philodendron-family which counts hundreds of different variations. The plant originates from the tropical areas of Central- and South America. The melanochrysum is a botanical variation of the Philodendron. The plant has big, heart shaped leaves with clear, yellow vein traces. Young leaves tend to be a bit lighter and can remind of the Philodendron micans. As the leaves grow older, they will grow significantly bigger and become a lot darker. In nature the melanochrysum loves to climb on rocks and trees and can expand its height up to a few meters. Araflora sells smaller versions of the plant differing from 10 cm up to 80 cm. To support your climbing plant, use a planting stick or a wall on which it can grow.
