Sophronitis wittigiana is found in the wild on the coastal area of Brazil in the province Espiritu Santo. The pink or red flowers are 6 centimetre on average. The flower petals are larger than the yellow striped lip of this species. The flower is quite big when compared to the rest of the plant. The leaves are spoon shaped, growing from thickened bulbs and reach a maximum of 15 centimetre.
