In nature this miniature orchid grows on trees in the moist mountain forests of central Ecuador at a height of 450-1200 meters above sea level. In this area this Scaphosepalum lives between mosses, ferns and bromeliads, on tree trunks. This plant is thus excellently suited for placement on an epiphyte branch or fern root backwall.
