Oncidium meirax is widespread in Central and South America. It is found in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at altitudes between 600 and 2.000 meters. The flower stalks stick out above the leaves arising from slightly flattened bulbs. Oncidium meirax can grow multiple flower stems with each carrying multiple flowers. These are 1,5 centimetre with a very large yellow lip compared to the rest of the flower, with brown specks.
