This tiny Masdevallia is found in Ecuador and Columbia at altitudes ranging from 500 to 2100 m. Its natural habitat knows both warmer and cooler temperatures. In trees the Masdevallia herradurae flowers quickly. The orchid is easily recognized by the shape that is typical for Masdevallia orchids: three long strings, with three little petals in the center.
