Leptotes bicolor (literaly meaning ‘two colored’) is found in Brazil and Paraguay, at an altitude ranging from 700 – 1100 m. In this area moderate temperatures prevail (16-20 degrees at night). The fragrant, white-pink flowers of Leptotes bicolor grow to a diameter of 4 – 5 cm, which is relatively big for a miniature orchid. The flowers open subsequently and yield seeds with a vanilla like taste. In South-America these seeds are used for flavoring milk and ice cream.
