This orchid originating from Central America is found in the area in between South Mexico and Nicaragua. It can be found in the mountains, which characterizes the care it needs. This orchid can also be found on Cuba and Jamaica. As the name ‘polybulbon’ suggests, it has multiple bulbs from which leaves spring. Each can have 1 to 3 leaves. Encyclia polybulbon blossoms with one amber coloured flower, with a white lip. Due to its rambling growth it is preferably placed on slabs of wood or cork. It requires much light and can even take some sunlight as well. From the apex of the mature bulb a short inflorescence will grow and produce a lovely single, fragrant flower during wintertime.
