Dendrobium loddigesii is found in the south of China and in big parts of Laos and Vietnam, at an altitude ranging from 1000 to 1500 m. In these wooded areas the plant is accustomed to arid winters and humid summers. However, the plant can sustain under a wide range of circumstances. Dendrobium loddigesii can bloom on rocks, in trees or on earth. The lilac/yellow flowers that appear during blossoming are up to 5 cm big and attached to a stem that is 7,5 cm long. The orchid forms buds in the end of December and blooms in April.
