Coelogyne fimbriata is found in evergreen lowland forests or primary montane forests . It has slender tapering pseudo bulbs roughly 6 centimetres long, each of which bears two leaves. The leaves can be up to 7 centimetres. In autumn, the plant produces a 5 centimetre flower stem on the most mature, recently formed pseudo bulb. The stem supports up to 3 flowers. These can be up to 3 centimetres in diameter, yellowish green in colour with brown veins on the lip. Under the right conditions, the flowers give off a delicate fragrance.
