Bulbophyllum saltatorium is a small, warm growing orchid species from tropical Africa. Similar to other species from this genus, this orchid is sympodial. The pseudobulbs are ovoid and a couple of centimeters when mature. From every pseudobulb a singular leathery leaf develops. Flowering time is in winter, when a large up to 80 centimeters raceme containing multiple red to purple flowers is produced. The lip of the flower is heavily fringed with purple hairs. Propagation is mostly done by dividing.
