Begonia pavonina is a striking plant which in nature is only found in a few tropical mountainous forests in Asia, which due to their great altitudes are relatively cool on the tropic scale. The extraordinary iridescent characteristic of the leaf is primarily visible when the light hits it at just the right angle. In deep shadow and in natural light the leaf will develop more iridescent power. A drop in night temperature also has a beneficial influence. Due to this Begonia’S predisposition towards very high humidity a terrarium or greenhouse is recommended. In bloom the Begonia pavonina has light pink flowers. It is a rhizome-forming Begonia.
