Begonia cubensis is a tropical plant originating from Cuba, as the name already suggests. This plant is locally known as โCuban hollyโ. The species is characterized by its sideways stalked, droplet shaped leaves, as with most begonias. The base coloration of the slight hairy leaves is grey to green. When the leaves are developing, they show a burgundy to faint red color, especially when grown in bright light conditions. When mature, it could form a small bush that grows up to a meter in height. From there, this plant could spread horizontally thereafter. The plant produces bright white flowers with a yellow center, that are either male or female. Propagation is easiest by taking cutting of larger stems. When both sexes of flowers are present, it could be propagated by seed as well.
